D.o - Original Description:
Author Pane screenshot

Author Pane is a block of information about a given user, like those typically found on a forum post, but can be used in other places as well. From core, it collects the user picture, name, join date, online status, contact link, and profile information. In addition, any module or theme can feed it more information via the preprocess system. All of this information is then gathered and displayed using a template file.

Advanced Forum and Advanced Profile Kit will use Author Pane automatically. It can also be used independently of those modules by making use of the provided block, the theme function, or the panels integration. See the documentation for more details.

Warning! Author Pane 2.x will not work with Advanced Forum 1.1 and below. AF 1.x requires 2.x as of the January 18th snapshot and 1.2 will require it as well.

Module integrations:

The following modules will automatically add information to Author Pane when enabled. Some of these integrations are included in the Author Pane project while others are included in the individual projects. More integrations can be added as explained here The only integrations that are tested in development are Contact, FBSS, OG, PM, US, UT (text), and UP. The only integrations that I use on my live site are Contact, PM and US. Other integrations are provided as a convenience and are unsupported but patches accepted.

* These modules' integration code are included in AP. All others are part of the module in question.

Versions

5.x: is no longer supported or maintained.

6.x - 1.x: is currently still needed if you are on Advanced Forum 1.1 and below. It will get security fixes if needed but no other changes and will become unsupported once AF 1.2 is released.

6.x - 2.x: is what you should be using unless you are using AF 1.1 or below. This version is still maintained and will get bug fixes, security fixes, and possibly small enhancements.

7.x - 2.x: now has a branch and a development snapshot. Thanks to gordon for porting it. As I don't have any Drupal 7 sites and won't for a while, this version is only going to get enough attention to make sure it works and get a 1.0 release. Any fixes in the D6 version will be forward ported if applicable.

Donations

If this module has helped you and you'd like to donate, I have a Chipin to raise money for a netbook so I have something portable to bring to DrupalCon.
